Karen Nancy Kilson, 59, of Sandy Hook, beloved wife of Charles E. Kilson, died October 4, at Danbury Hospital. Born July 22, 1950, in Bridgeport, she spent her childhood in Trumbull, before settling in Sandy Hook in 1973.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children and their families, Brian of Berlin, Jennifer of Bethel, and Jeffrey of Philadelphia; and a brother, Rory and his wife, Laurie, of Bridgeport. She was predeceased by her first husband, David M. Metcalf.
Mrs Kilson was a founding member of the Danbury Hospital Doula Program, certified by Doulas of North America (DONA), and started a home-based practice in 2002 that included childbirth education and onsite birth support services. Additionally, she contributed to her local fire and ambulance departments, in sharing her breadth of knowledge in this field. Professionally, she had helped hundreds of women and couples bring new lives into the world. She cherished most the births of her three grandchildren.
Calling hours were scheduled for Friday, October 9, in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, from 5 to 8 pm. Burial and memorial services will be held at the Schaghticoke Indian Reservation, Kent, Saturday, October 10, at 11 am.
