Animals Receive Blessings At Two Churches

Animals, with their humans, gathered outside St Rose of Lima on Saturday, October 3, for a Blessing of The Animals event. Another Blessing of The Animals was held at Newtown Congregational Church on Sunday, October 4.

A few dogs tried to sing a long with their human counterparts during the opening song, “Bright and Beautiful,” at St Rose on Saturday. Most of the people gathered had brought dogs, including Canine Advocates President Virginia Jess and her husband Dave, who brought along their 10-year-old rescue dog Bergen.

Other animals were also gathered for the event. Grace Griffin stood clutching a carrying case with a small black and white kitten named Pepper, who had been a present for Grace’s 10th birthday just two weeks ago.

After opening remarks, prayers and songs, eventgoers were asked to stand in one of two lines with their pets so their pets could receive a blessing from either Reverend Milan Dimic or Reverend Ignacio Ortigas.
