Schneider

Nellie (Steade) Schneider, 88, of Stratford, and formerly of Fairfield, died on October 6, at Lord Chamberlain Convalescent Home, Stratford.

She is survived by a son, John Schneider and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Newtown.

Born in Bridgeport, Mrs Schneider had been a Fairfield resident for 54 years before moving to Stratford ten years ago. She was a member of Marie Lafayette Chapter 111, Order of Eastern Star, and a former member of the First English Lutheran Church in Bridgeport.

Survivors include her husband, Gus Schneider of Stratford; two other children, Joan Melius and her husband, Clair, of West Dover, Vt., and Robert Schneider and his wife, Jeanne, of Cheshire; three sisters, Doris Hewitt of Sarasota, Fla., Irene Reidenbach of Stratford, and Bertha Gosart of the Huntington section of Shelton; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on October 9 in the Spear Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. Interment followed in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield.
