NFoM Præludium Recital

Will Debut This Month

The second concert of the twenty-third season of Newtown Friends of Music will feature a new departure and an exciting innovation for the well-respected concert series. Graduate student and pianist Anna Grinberg will perform the inaugural Præludium Recital on Sunday, October 22, at Edmond Town Hall. The concert will begin at 3 pm.

The event is two-fold: first, through the kind generosity of long-time subscribers Mr and Mrs William F. Meyer, Newtown Friends of Music will now be able to offer the would-be concert artist the opportunity to perform before a sophisticated audience. Secondly, the concert provides subscribers with the gift of a sixth concert presentation.

Russian-born Anna Grinberg began her piano studies at the age of six. In 1990 she immigrated to Israel where she earned a master’s degree from Rubin Academy of Tel-Aviv University. She also studied at the Conservertoire Royale de Music in Brussels.

She is the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards. At present, she is a second-year graduate student at Yale School of Music in New Haven, studying with Boris Berman.

For her recital on October 22nd Miss Grinberg will perform a Piano sonata in C, K 330, by Mozart, Waldszenen, Op 82 by Robert Schumann. After the intermission, Six Pieces, Op 19, by Schoenberg, and then The Wanderer Fantasy by Schubert will complete the afternoon.

Free parking and handicap access are available at Edmond Town Hall, at 45 Main Street in Newtown. Light refreshments are traditionally served following each performance, during which time the audience is also given the opportunity to meet and speak with the performers in an informal setting.

Tickets for the Præludium Recital on October 22 are $14 for adults, and $12 students and seniors. Children between the ages of five and 14 are welcome and admitted free of charge when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult.

The box office will open one hour before the start of the concert Sunday afternoon. For further information or reservations, contact NFoM president Ellen Parrella at 426-6470 or friendsofmusic@snet.net.
