âSleepy Hollowâ For The Kids
BRIDGEPORT â A scary pre-Halloween performance of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow will be presented Saturday, October 28, at The Barnum Museum as part of Bridgeport Hospitalâs âBreakfast at The Barnumâ monthly series of family entertainment.
Doors will open at 10 am for a free continental breakfast, followed by the performance at 10:30. The museum is at 820 Main Street.
The TSF Productions program starring Craig Babcock and Richard Stillman will mark the opening of the seriesâ fourth year of collaborative presentations sponsored by the museum and the hospital, and co-sponsored by The Connecticut Post and Take Time Café.
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is a classic American short story written by Washington Irving. It tells the tale of Brom Bones, a practical joker, and his friend Ichabod Crane, and how the relationship is affected by their mutual affection for a wealthy young woman.
The story is told through monologue, dialogue, action, mime and song, and the use of several instruments including a guitar, banjo, bagpipe, penny whistle, conga drum, field drug and kazoo.
The story theater performance, arranged by Encore Performing Arts, Inc., is designed to help young audiences learn about tolerance for individual differences, stress the value of reading for enjoyment, and join in singing and storytelling. Also included on the program will be a child-oriented presentation by staff members of Bridgeport Hospitalâs P.T. Barnum Pediatric Center.
Attendance at âBreakfast at The Barnumâ is included with museum admission of $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and college students, and $3 for children age four and older. Children under four are admitted free. Reservations are not required. Call 203/331-1104 for further information.
