Republicans’ Courage ‘Hammered Flat’
To the Editor:
The domineering GOP majority in the US Senate has accomplished its agenda. That agenda countenanced the dirty work of elevating Brett Kavanaugh to the highest Court of our nation.
Kavanaugh, a judge, lied under oath during his hearing before the Judiciary Committee.
Kavanaugh, a judge, reached out to tamper with potential witnesses capable of testifying to his drunken behavior while at Yale. Erstwhile classmates, both male and female, have stated they had observed his out-of-control drinking and sexual aggression while drunk… a few have revealed Kavanaugh solicited their advocacy.
Dr Ford has an enduring, all too clear, and exact memory of who was on top of her and whose hand stifled her outcries. Brett Kavanaugh testified he has no memory of this event. He is not the first drunken man who does not recall his behavior when awash in alcohol.
I am certain a few of the senators who voted “aye” on Saturday know in their hearts that Kavanaugh is unfit to sit as a Justice on our Supreme Court. Susan Collins and Jeff Flake are among these. However, the pressures now so effectively applied by the far-right factions of the present GOP fractured their spines. A rogue administration, its dark-money backers, and an inflamed so-called “base,” have hammered flat the courage of once principled Republican lawmakers.
