To the Editor:

I encourage you to vote for Rebekah Harriman-Stites for Newtown’s state representative.

I’ve had the pleasure of canvassing with Rebekah, and I’ve come to know her as a friend. She is knowledgeable, honest, and hard-working. Whether one’s views differ from hers or not, she treats everyone with respect, listens intently to their viewpoints, and ends each conversation with a positive note.

Rebekah is not afraid to reach across the aisle if the benefits of compromise produce the most sensible and far-reaching results.

Rebekah’s unwavering commitment to quality education is demonstrated by serving on the Board of Education, for which she is vice-chairperson. She has a son who directly benefits from the fruits of her labor, but her sense of civic duty for all Newtown Public School students is what drives her the most.

She owns a successful small business; therefore, her expertise in both education and business offers us, as her constituents, an opportunity to elect an extremely well-rounded, talented state representative.

The time has come for fresh, thoughtful, and creative ideas and solutions, whether it be health care, business, taxes, education, budget, environmental issues, or others. Please vote with me for Rebekah Harriman-Stites on Tuesday, November 6.
