Take The Great Pumpkin Challenge
To the Editor,
Fourth Annual Great Pumpkin Challenge - Can I count you in?
For the fourth year, the Great Pumpkin Challenge is on! I encourage you to join us in what has become a Main Street Halloween tradition.
It was inspired by my friend Zoe's battle with cancer, because I wanted to find a way to support her courage and strength. Now a junior at NHS, I am even more committed to making a difference in her life through celebrating friends, family, community, and benefiting the lives of other kids going through difficult situations.
My challenge to you this year is to not only bring a carved pumpkin and a $5 donation, but also to reach out and connect with each other.
Carve a pumpkin with your family, your friends, your neighborhood, your club, your team, your scout troop, your youth group, your book club. Maybe there are seniors who would really enjoy your company and your mad carving skills. Be bold in reaching out. Be creative.
All of the donations will go to Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, which is dedicated to providing a different kind of healing to seriously ill children and their families throughout the Northeast, free of charge.
Pumpkin Drop Off: 14 Main Street, Newtown; Sunday October 26 10 am-5 pm; Monday through Thursday 3-7 pm.
Can’t make it? No worries! I have a website where you can buy a virtual pumpkin: www.greatpumpkinchallenge.org
We can change the world, one pumpkin at a time!
Thank you,
Mackenzie Page
