The 2014 winner, Julia Provey, commented about her winning entry: “I looked around Newtown and, from my imagination, I saw a musician, a juggler, an artist and a dancer, and they were all Newtown.”
Her submission was a black and white caricature of these performers, all admittedly derivative of people she actually knows in Newtown. One well-known musician, Roger Sprung, went on to perform at the 2014 festival.
