Flagpole Photographers Exhibition, Program Updates
Flagpole Photographers Camera Club is continuing to showcase its Fifth Annual “Newtown And Beyond” Photo Exhibit at Newtown Municipal Center. On view at 3 Primrose Street, within the Fairfield Hills campus, the exhibit showcases over 100 photos by members of the Flagpole Photographers Camera Club.
As a continuing tradition, over 30 poems written by students in Mrs. Diaz's CP American Literature Class from Newtown High School are also being displayed with the photographs. The poems again have proven to be a tremendous success, challenging and inspiring each individual student to put their personal thoughts, ambitions and reflect upon the town of Newtown in their own words by putting pen to paper.
The theme of the poetry is “Where I am from...,” which perfectly reflects the pride each student feels about their hometown. These poems are featured in conjunction with various photos of Newtown landmarks and meaningful points of interest around town.
“Newtown And Beyond” is on view during regular municipal center hours — Monday through Friday, 8 am until 4:30 pm — until October 30.
On Thursday, October 16, the club will host a general meeting and photo competition. The club meets in the lower meeting room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.
October’s assigned subject is “Best of Summer.” Members are challenged showcase their creativity in capturing their interpretation of that theme. There will also be competitions in Open Digital, Open Black & White and Open Color.
The public is welcome for the presentation, and to hear the critiques of the entries.
Light refreshments will be served. The meeting and competition will start at 7:30 pm.
