Using The Godfrey Memorial Library For Genealogy Research
On Wednesday, October 13, the Genealogy Club of Newtown will host a free program titled âThe Insiderâs Guide to the Godfrey Memorial Library.â The program will begin at 7 pm in the community room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.
Genealogy researchers Alice and Carl Charest will explain the Godfrey Memorial Libraryâs many resources and demonstrate how to use its online databases to find ancestors and trace family history. The Godfrey Memorial Library, established in 1947 and located in Middletown, offers a wide variety of printed and electronic materials for genealogy research.
As a team, the Charests have been traveling the country making presentations about the Godfrey Memorial Library for several years. Mr Charest is a retired chemist and Mrs Charest is a retired special education teacher. Together, they have traced their genealogical roots throughout the United States and researched ancestors who came from Canada, Sweden, Italy, and the British Isles.
The Genealogy Club of Newtown meets on the second Wednesday of each month, September through June, at the Booth Library. Visitors and new members are always welcome.
The clubâs November speaker will be Nora Galvin, who will discuss tools for Ancestry.com.
