U12 Softball Scores

U12 Newtown softball results from this past week:

Brookfield 13, Killer Bees 12: Allison Silkowski played well at third base and contributed to the score with a base hit and three runs batted in. Annie Hoffman, with three runs scored, was the top scorer for the Bees, and Emily Bell had a base hit and 2 RBI.

Southbury 22, Newtown Bubble Hawks 17: The Newtown Bubble Hawks jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in the first with key hits by Sarah Spillane and Tina DeMaio. After Newtown added to its lead, Southbury answered back in the second, narrowing the advantage to 7-6.  In the third, with bases loaded, Samantha Cody hit a sharp single to center field scoring two runs and extending Newtown’s lead to 12-6. Southbury came back in the fifth inning to pull to within 13-12. Newtown had a tough top of the sixth, giving up nine runs and falling behind 22-13. Newtown batted through the order, scoring four more runs on singles from Robin Rockwell and Sydney Flint but fell short. Newtown had a strong showing on the mound from Allison Morrill, Sydney Flint, and Kate Laaksonen. Jenna Carvalho, Sophie Ackert, and Joanna Vodola each had key plays defensively throughout the game.
