The choice is obvious. George Ferguson is the best candidate to represent Newtown in Hartford.
George has a proven record of serving and supporting Newtown. Heâs an elected member of the Legislative Council, the chair of the Ordinance Committee, and on the Education and Administration Committees. He was previously the vice chair of the Newtown Conservation Commission and before that served on the Inland Wetlands Commission. George has been instrumental in saving the Newtown taxpayer money both as a member of the Conservation Commission and the Legislative Council. He was a key player in starting the conservation that preserved Ferris Farm. He also secured a series of charitable gifts values at between $1.2 and $1.5 million. This is money the taxpayers did not have to spend to acquire parts of the Pond Brook parcels, which represent a great new recreational resource for Newtown.
As part of the Legislative Council, George has worked collaboratively with all three parties in town and will continue to be a steady voice to bring people together to address our toughest fiscal challenges like the $2.5 billion structural deficit we face in next yearâs annual state budget.
George has several finance degrees and 30 years of business experience. Heâs a fiscal conservative who will work to turn Connecticutâs economic ship around. He will work to cut spending, provide taxpayer relief, and put Connecticut on a path to being economically competitive once again. We must have new leadership if we are to prosper in Connecticut.
George Ferguson is the responsible choice for Newtown.
