Report: Driver Stricken

With Heart Attack Before Collision

Police report that their investigation into a September 15 one-vehicle accident involving a death, which occurred near 99 Hattertown Road, indicates that the man who was driving the vehicle suffered an acute heart attack before the auto collided with a stone wall alongside the road.

In a statement, police wrote that their investigation into the death of George David Zurman, Jr, 64, of 143 Hattertown Road, which included review of a medical examiner’s report and medical records from Danbury Hospital, indicates that the cause of the motor vehicle accident was the natural death of Mr Zurman due to an acute heart attack.

At about 3:58 pm on September 15, Mr Zurman was driving a 2004 Nissan Xterra southward on Hattertown Road, when he suffered an acute heart attack, after which the SUV veered off the left side of the road and collided with a stone wall at the driveway at 99 Hattertown Road, police report.

The SUV then continued onward, striking a stone pillar near the driveway, police said.

A short time later, Mr Zurman was found to be unresponsive by a passerby who reported the accident.

Mr Zurman was transported to Danbury Hospital, after which he was pronounced dead due to natural causes at about 5:50 pm.

Funeral services for Mr Zurman were held on September 20.
