Nancy M. Pendergast, 70, wife of Fred J. Pendergast, Sr, of Sandy Hook, died September 30, in Danbury Hospital. She was born in Union City, Conn., on May 30, 1940, a daughter of Anna C. (Yesinskas) and Francis X. Moss.
Mrs Pendergast was a graduate of St Maryâs Hospital School of Nursing in Waterbury. She was a registered nurse at St Maryâs Hospital and at Fairfield Hills Hospital in Newtown. She was a member of the St Maryâs School of Nursing Alumni Association.
Mrs Pendergast was a member of St Rose of Lima Church, and when her children were of school age, she volunteered at St Rose School. She also attended Grace Christian Fellowship Church.
In addition to her husband of 47 years, Mrs Pendergast is survived by her children and their spouses, Fred Pendergast, Jr, John and Heather Pendergast, Mary and Robert Granoski, and William and Maureen Pendergast, all of Sandy Hook, Margaret and John Keayes of Newtown, Michael and Marianne Pendergast of Southbury, and Thomas and Elizabeth Pendergast of New Milford; a sister, Shirley Petschauer of Waynesboro, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Frances Moss, predeceased her.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church on October 4. Interment followed in St Rose Cemetery.
