Guitarist Jason Vieaux To Join Escher String Quartet For October 17 Concert
The talented Escher String Quartet is revered for its finely honed technique and a focused ensemble blend. Each of its four members is strong in his or her own right and could, it seems, make it as a soloist. Together, they are tightly in sync rhythmically, make a generous, brilliant sound, and bring a ton of energy to the stage.
Newtown Friends of Music will present this young string quartet in concert on Sunday, October 17, at 3 pm. With the addition of guest guitarist Jason Vieaux, the five piece ensemble will present a program of works rarely heard on this stage.
Formed in 2005, the ensemble draws its name from the 20th Century Dutch artist MC Escher. The group finds inspiration in the artistâs method of interplay between individual components working together to form a whole because chamber music, like the Escher paintings, starts out with individual parts or voices that weave together to form a stunning whole.
The ensemble consistently delights audiences with its cool, emotionally restrained sound that impresses through precision and clarity. Their Newtown debut promises nothing less.Â
Formed in 2005, Escher String Quartet has received acclaim for its individual sound and unique cohesiveness. Members are violinists Adam Barnett-Hart and Wu Jie, violist Pierre Lapointe, and cellist Dane Johansen.
The groupâs performance at Edmond Town Hall will feature some solo work by Mr Vieaux, himself a multiple award winner, along with Vivaldi and Boccherini quintets, among other pieces.
An informal reception following the concert will offer concertgoers the opportunity to mingle with the performers.
Tickets are $20 each; students K-12 are admitted free of charge when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult. Season tickets are still available. The box office opens one hour before the start of the concert, or tickets can be reserved by calling 003-426-6470 or visiting NewtownFriendsOfMusic.org.
Parking is free behind Edmond Town Hall and the facility is handicap accessible, with all seating providing excellent viewing and acoustics. An elevator will take patrons to all three floors of the building.
