âWeâve Got Talentâ
By Kendra Bobowick
In tune and in costume, the Weâve Got Talent performers are ready â or not â for their debut curtain call this weekend.
On Saturday, October 9, at 7:30 pm, at Newtown High School, more than 60 participants will take their turn onstage for Newtown Cultural Arts Commissionâs first musical variety show. This fundraising event will celebrate the talents of Newtown residents âacross the generations,â according to the arts commission website at NewtownArtsCommission.org. The night will showcase music, dance, comedy, solo performances, local celebrities, and more.
âThere is entertainment for everyone â come alone, with friends, or with your whole family,â states the website.
Commission member and show coordinator Donna Randle this week looked forward to the evening and the students and hometown celebrities involved with the show. Parents and participant Phyllis Cortese rehearsed during an October 2 event where her sonâs group, The Dylan Cortese Collaboration, performed.
Participants on Saturday evening will include Dr Richard Coopersmith; Dr Robert Golenbock; Dean Snellback, guitarist; Tim McGrath, guitarist and Newtown 12âs baseball coach; Robert Rabinowitz, flutist; Sarah Roman, violin; Susan Lang, guitarist and Newtown Middle School teacher; Martin Steinberg, magician; Kate Katcher, actress; Paige Olson, Miss CT Teen 2010; First Selectman Pat Llodra; Board of Education Chairman William Hart; and Jennifer Johnston, Newtown Cultural Arts Commission Chairman, along with dozens of additional performers.
Tickets are $15, $10 student and seniors, and can be reserved online or purchased at the door. Call 203-426-9299 for additional information.
