A Successful NSA Fundraiser
A Successful NSA Fundraiser
To the Editor:
The Newtown Scholarship Associationâs annual Harvest Wine Tasting fundraiser, held on September 25, was a great success thanks to the efforts of many community members who devote considerable time and effort to helping make the dream of a college education a reality for high school graduates from Newtown.
In particular weâd like to thank:
Annie Stiefel and Tim Currier of the beautiful Sticks and Stones Farm for opening their doors and hosting the event.
Mike and Jill Kerler and the staff of Sandy Hook Wine & Liquor for orchestrating the tasting portion of the evening â and thanks to New England Wine Distributors, as well.
The talented students in Newtown High Schoolâs Culinary Department under the guidance of Brian Neumeyer and Lori Hoagland for the fabulous food. And a tip of the toque to Hoagy Hoagland, Evan Barreto, Greg Aiello, Marsha Moskowitz, and Jo-Ann Dempsky for assisting with food prep and serving.
Weâre grateful to all who contributed items for the silent and live auctions â in particular Trevor Shaw, Howard Lasher, Sarah Roman, Tim Rahr, Sage Steele, Angelo Mariani of Sal e Pepe, Bruce and Eric Bromberg of Blue Ribbon Restaurant, Sage Steele of ESPN, and Tim Currier.
Special thanks to Peopleâs United Bank for serving as the eventâs official sponsor.
And finally, thank you to everyone who attended the event.
Since its founding in 1937, the NSA has awarded over $3 million in scholarships and as continuing aid to students from Newtown pursuing a higher education. This year alone, we provided over $230,000 in financial assistance to help students from Newtown achieve their goals of a college degree.
Sincerely,
