Newtown High School’s boys’ soccer team remained unbeaten at home and in South-West Conference play with a 3-0 shutout of New Milford on September 26. Jonah Kaiser, Ryan Payne, and Edward Liu all scored, and Curtis Verdi recorded an assist.

The Nighthawks suffered their first defeat of the season in a 2-0 setback at nonconference foe Xavier of Middletown on September 28. Xavier is ranked fourth in the Class LL State rankings and has a record of 7-1-1. Newtown remained in the top ten of the Class L rankings with a record of 6-1-3.

NHS got back to South-West Conference action in a visit to New Fairfield on October 1 and fell 2-0. Newtown, in the midst of five straight road contests, will be off from game action until an October 8 visit to Stratford at Penders Field starting at 6 pm.
