To the Editor:

I am writing in support of my husband, Tom Long, for a seat on the Legislative Council representing District 3. In the 20-plus years we have been together, Tom has always found ways to volunteer and become engaged in the community, whether it was supporting animal shelters, acquisition and maintenance of open space, or serving on town boards. He frequently expresses the importance of participating and giving back to the town and I hope the community will support his effort to volunteer his time on the Legislative Council.

What makes Tom well suited for this position is his ability to listen and understand diverse ideas, even when he is not in agreement. Coming from a large family he naturally collaborative and always seeks the input of others. From our conversations at home, I can tell you he is truly interested in the future of Newtown and maintaining the strong vibrant community which brought us here 16 years ago.

On November 2, remember Tom Long for Legislative Council.
