To the Editor:

It is with great pride that I support Jordana Bloom for town clerk.

As a liaison between Newtown’s local government and the public, the town clerk is the face of Newtown. From accurately printing and distributing absentee ballots to licensing beloved pets to maintaining documents related to many aspects of life from birth to death, the town clerk has a hand in every Newtowner’s life at one point or another. A friendly, caring, detail-oriented critical-thinker is the type of person required to perform such significant responsibilities successfully. I am completely confident that Jordana Bloom checks off all those boxes.

Jordana has years of solid customer service experience through a variety of positions, including retail store owner and office support staff. Her experience as a two-term member of Newtown’s Legislative Council has provided her with a profound understanding of local government operations and has proven that she possesses a deep-rooted commitment to improving our community. In addition, Jordana’s astute mind and common sense will serve Newtown well by enabling her to become proficient in the duties of the town clerk thoroughly and institute practices and improvements to run the office efficiently and effectively. Beyond Jordana’s obvious skills, her shining, warm personality will create a welcoming atmosphere in the town clerk’s office.

I believe that it is time for a change in the status quo. If you want a town clerk who is dedicated to creating a “Nicer Newtown” combined with outstanding competency and accuracy, you will join me in voting for Jordana Bloom for town clerk on November 2.
