Carl Kuhne
Carl Kuhne, 80, of Sandy Hook, husband of Karen (Koniecki) Kuhne, died October 5, after a brief illness. He was born in Waterbury, August 23, 1935, and was a son of the late Fanny (Petit) and Carl Kuhne of Sandy Hook.
He was a resident of Newtown and Danbury for most of his life and attended local schools.
Mr Kuhne was retired for the past 15 years from the Grand Union Supermarkets, where he worked for 47 years in Fairfield County and New York.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter, UConn basketball fan, and enjoyed reading Western novels and completing jigsaw puzzles. In addition to his wife, a son, Kenny Kuhne of Danbury; a daughter, Debbie Schimanski of Waterbury; granddaughter, Wendy Schimanski of Danbury; sisters Esther Paproski of Newtown and Mabel Britton of Bristol; brother Ernie Kuhne of Wolcott; and several nephews and nieces survive Mr Kuhne. In addition to his parents, his sisters Hazel Lynch of Newtown and Betty Marklin of Florida, and a beloved Brittany spaniel predeceased him.
Calling hours are at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Saturday, October 10, from 1 to 3 pm. The Rev Caroline Hamilton-Arnold will conduct a prayer service. Graveside funeral services will be private, at a later date.
