A Place To Go To Stay Connected To Newtown

To the Editor:

I would like to thank The Newtown Bee in regards to their coverage of the recent bomb threats on Sandy Hook Elementary School. Although this can be a hard topic to return to, The Bee reported with objectivity and taste. It was detailed, informative, and went above and beyond the coverage of many mainstream news sites with in-depth reporting of the debriefing for parents and the terroristic nature of the threat.

The devastating event that occurred in Newtown two Decembers ago shocked the nation and crowded our town with cameras and reporters for weeks, but that is in the past. Often times I find that these major news sites have somewhat forgotten about Newtown and because it is not a “big” headline anymore they underreport and miss the specific details that I crave.

Currently, I attend college at Elon University in North Carolina, but my home will forever lie in Newtown. The newspapers and television here are filled with local, national, and foreign headlines, but I am missing that hometown connection. Even though I am hundreds of miles away, it is nice to know that I still have a place that I can turn to in order to get information on topics like this, and also local events that I miss in my absence.

The Newtown Bee keeps me connected to my home and I will continue to read as I count down the days until I return.

Sincerely,

Courtney Campbell
