To the Editor:
Having worked with Dan Shea as his supervisor, I write to support his candidacy for the Newtown Board of Education position. Dan was a highly regarded high school English teacher with 35 years of experience and is highly qualified for this position. Currently, Dan works with the New Haven/Yale community editing academic papers.
Dan has lived in town for over 43 years with his wife, Roberta, a teacher/artist, who is also a member of the St Rose rectory staff and SCAN board member. Dan and Roberta are the proud parents of two very accomplished children who are products of the Newtown public school system. They both went on to graduate from prestigious universities, which include the University of Michigan, the University of Chicago, the University of Pennsylvania, and Washington University of Saint Louis. Dan believes that every child is entitled to the same quality education that his own children received and he wants to ensure that Newtown continues to do this while at the same time being fiscally responsible and prudent.
Danâs knowledge of public education and district issues makes him the perfect candidate for this job. All his community service and experience has prepared him to serve as a member of this very important board. Thus, please vote for my respected friend, Dan Shea, for the Newtown Board of Education on November 8. He will do a outstanding job for both the children and taxpayers of Newtown.
Sincerely,
