Rotary Inducts Two New Members
Rotary Club past president Carrie Swan and Rotary past district governor Julianne Reppenhagen recently presided over the induction of the two newest members of the Newtown Rotary Club, Ken Harper and Peter Maher.
Ken Harper is a financial advisor with Edward Jones in Newtown. He has ten years of experience in investment, insurance, and financial planning. His prior professional experience includes 20 years in construction project management.
He is married to Lauren with one daughter, Samantha, age 11.
In addition to Rotary, his interests include membership in the Current Grants Committee with the Putnam Arts Council, former trustee and treasurer with Putnam County Land Trust, and former board member and disaster volunteer with the American Red Cross Putnam Chapter.
Mr Harper also enjoys golf, cycling, and playing keyboards for various pickup bands. He attended the University of Pennsylvania. His membership was sponsored by Rotarian Mary Griffin.
Peter Maher is executive vice president and chief lending officer at Union Savings Bank in Danbury. This is his second experience with Rotary; he was previously a member of the Rotary Club of New Milford, where he served as president ten years ago. He lives in Newtown with his wife, Caren Nelson. They have two grown daughters, Catherine and Charlotte, both of whom live in the Boston area.
Mr Maher and his wife are both members of the New Milford Animal Shelter. His membership was sponsored by Rotarian Scott Senete.
The Newtown Rotary Club comprises men and women who are in business and professions in the local community. Their efforts and belief in the concept of âService Above Selfâ provide support for many organizations and individuals to have a better life.
