Hiram Lodge To Host Open House October 15

For anyone who would like to learn about Freemasonry or who has an interest in becoming a Mason, Hiram Lodge #18 will offer the perfect opportunity on Saturday, October 15.

The Masonic lodge at 3 Washington Avenue in Sandy Hook will host an open house that day, from 10 am until 3 pm, to which the public is invited.

Brothers from Hiram Lodge and other Masonic organizations will be available to answer questions about Freemasonry, the world’s oldest, largest, and best-known fraternal organization, Hiram Lodge history, and give tours of the lodge.

Guests will also learn the scope of Masonry philanthropy and activities on international and local levels.

Among other things, lodge members participate in many charitable activities, such as the Masonic Medical Research Laboratory (MMRL), an internationally recognized biomedical research institute, and the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Local endeavors include participation in the annual Newtown Relay For Life and providing “reverse trick-or-treats” to seniors at Nunnawauk Meadows. Lodge members will also be busy raising funds to help provide Thanksgiving meals to Newtown families in need through other local agencies.

For additional information contact Bill Hillman, Master, Hiram Lodge #18, at hiram18@ctfreemasons.com, or visit HiramLodge18.org.

In addition to the open house on October 15, Hiram Lodge will be sponsoring CT-CHIP, a child identification program, at C.H. Booth Library on Saturday, October 29.

CT-CHIP is a comprehensive and free program designed to give families a measure of protection against the problem of missing children. Parents receive “Purple Packs” consisting of a brief recorded interview, a digital still photograph, fingerprinting of both hands, dental bite impression, and a cheek swap DNA/scent sample.

Information about this program will be available during the open house.
