Family Fun Farm Festival, 11 am–5 pm, Sticks and Stones Farm, 201 Huntingtown Road, $5, $3 children, fundraiser for Connecticut Association of Foster and Adoptive Parents (CAFAP) will include workshops, harvest concessions, cooking demonstrations, drum circle, arts and crafts, music, farm stand, nature scavenger hunt and door prizes, picnic box lunches available in advance; 860-258-3400.

50th Newtown Labor Day Parade (rescheduled following Tropical Storm Irene), steps off 2 pm, from Main Street at Hanover Road, Grand Marshal Lee W. Glover will return to reprise role he held for first parade, leading Newtown’s fire companies and bands, school and local groups and clubs, dancers, floats, military vehicles, politicians, and much more, including presentation of giant American flags, special appearance by Well Fargo stagecoach, flyover by B-25 and two Texan T-6 Flyers, plus pre- and post-parade fair at Newtown Middle School with refreshments and vendors, parade route follows Main Street to Glover Avenue, then northwest onto Queen Street, ending at Church Hill Road.
