Snakes Alive!—

Program Will Bring Slides & Specimens To Booth Library

The Lillinonah Audubon Society will begin its fall season of programs with a special event, entitled “Snakes Alive!” on Thursday, October 27, at Cyrenius H. Booth Library.

Light refreshments will be offered beginning at 7:30 pm, and the program will start at 8.

The program’s goal is to introduce the audience to a fascinating animal group and alleviate the many fears and misconceptions that people have concerning these animals.

During the first portion, Jay Kaplan will give a slide presentation to familiarize the audience with snakes in general, and the 14 species that inhabit Connecticut in particular.

The second half of the program will feature a demonstration of live (non-venomous) snakes, providing facts on their habits and habitats. Included in the program will be rat and king snakes, as well as large constrictors.

A question-answer period will follow with an opportunity for close observation of some of the animals.

The program will inform and entertain children and nature enthusiasts of all ages.

The public is invited, free of charge. Donations will be accepted to offset the cost of refreshments and the speaker.
