Series On Holistic Therapies Offered At NVCC In October

WATERBURY — There are almost as many specialized areas within holistic medicine as there are in its traditional counterpart. And this fall, Naugatuck Valley Community College is offering a series of courses in October that touches on three of them.

On Thursday, October 13, instructor Lydia Granitto, a master in Reiki, the Japanese technique of providing deep relaxation, will teach “Healing with Vibration and Crystals.” The course provides an overview of vibrational energy work and crystal healing, and how the two therapies can be combined with Reiki.

On Thursday, October 20, instructor Katrina Erev, a naturopathic physician, will give a two-hour course, “An Eye to Diagnosis,” on iridology, a fascinating method of using the changes in markings on the eye’s iris to help identify health issues.

And on Thursday, October 27, Dr Erev, who is also a professional nutrition consultant, will teach “Holistic Nutrition Overview,” a course that reviews which herbs and dietary strategies can be helpful in enhancing digestion and improving metabolism.

The cost for each course is $25 or all three can be taken for $65. For more information or to register for the Holistic Therapy Modalities series, or any noncredit course at NVCC, visit www.nvcc.commnet.edu or call 203 575-8029.

NVCC serves 35 communities across Western Connecticut. Its 110-acre, main campus is located off Exit 18 on Interstate 84.
