NHS To Host College Fair

Undecided about plans after high school graduation? Check out the college fair that will be held on Tuesday, October 11, from 7 to 9 pm, in the Newtown High School gym.

Although selecting the right college or university is a challenge, attending a college fair can be informative and even fun. College fairs present the opportunity to meet with representatives of various colleges to learn what their institutions have to offer. Fairs provide students and parents with additional information when selecting a college and can assist in narrowing the search for just the right school.

Prior to attending the fair students may want to make a list of questions or concerns they may have regarding the school. Be sure to have a notebook and pen on hand to jot down notes and a bag to stash all the pamphlets and materials that are typically offered at such events.

Representatives from a diverse selection of colleges and universities will be on hand to answer questions ranging from acceptance to faculty/student ratio. Just a sample of those attending the fair are UConn, Western Connecticut, Eastern Connecticut, Colgate, Purdue, University of Rhode Island, Fairfield University, as well as many of the military schools.

Parents and students are reminded that the guidance department and the Career Center will have people available that evening to help answer questions.
