Master Chorale Announces 2005-06 Concert Season
The Connecticut Master Chorale, under the direction of Tina Johns Heidrich, has announced its 2005-06 concert season.
On Sunday, November 20, at 3 pm, the Chorale will open its season with its annual âHoliday Prelude Concertâ at St Maryâs Church in Bethel. The program will feature music with marimba, steel drums and brass ensemble, selections by John Rutter, Dave Brubeck, spirituals, multi-cultural numbers and other festive selections.
On Sunday, March 12, at 3 pm, the program will be the dramatic oratorio Hora Novissima (The Newest Hour) by the American composer Horatio Parker plus works by Mozart in celebration of his 250th birthday.
On Saturday, May 20, at 8 pm, CMC will present a program of âCinema Choral Classicsâ which will include selections from the sizable body of choral music written for motion pictures.
The March and May concerts will be held at St Rose of Lima in Newtown, with the chorale accompanied by the Connecticut Master Chorale Orchestra.
Tickets for each of the 2005-06 shows are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets are available from any member, and are sold at Mikeeâs Place (formerly Jersey Mikeâs), 220 Main Street South in Southbury.
The Connecticut Master Chorale was founded and directed by Tina Johns Heidrich. It is a premiere ensemble of 55 auditioned, highly gifted, select singers. CMC is in its seventh season and in its short history we have experienced exciting moments and attained many honors including a performance at The White House and a pair of performances Carnegie Hall, and as invited guests at West Point Military Academy, with Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra and with Nutmeg Opera Company.
The group won, for three straight years, the McDonaldâs Gospelfest competition.
