Loretta D. Sperling, 91, formerly of Nunnawauk Meadows, Newtown, died September 29 at Ashlar of Newtown. She was born in Bridgeport, on January 5, 1914, a daughter of Alexis and Lillian (Stiegler) Jacques.

Mrs Sperling is survived by a son, Rodger E. Sperling, Jr, of Newtown; two daughters, Joyce Fretty of Bullhead City, Ariz., and Loretta Martin of Honolulu, Hawaii; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was the wife of the late Rodger E. Sperling.

A resident of Newtown for the past ten years, Mrs Sperling was a longtime resident of Arizona and had previously resided in Monroe. She had been a member of the George W. Powell Sr American Legion Post 202 of Newtown.

It was Mrs Sperling’s wish that there be no funeral services. Cremation will be private.
