Kindness And Concern
Kindness And Concern
To the Editor:
A month ago, my daughter, Julie Cwikla, survived Hurricane Katrina. Julie and her year-old baby daughter, Vienna, evacuated their home in Ocean Springs, Miss., with their next-door neighbors. Her brick home was totally destroyed. Only a concrete slab and broken debris remained.
The outpouring of love, support, and generosity from Newtown friends has moved us to tears daily. You have overwhelmed us with your kindness and genuine concern. We thank all of you.
Julie and Vienna have come back to Newtown during this past month. Soon Julie will return to the University of Southern Mississippi to teach mathematics. More than 90 professors have been left homeless and they are all helping each other until the FEMA trailers arrive.
Thank you so much for the support you have given Julie. You have helped her to rebuild her life.
With enormous gratitude,
Joanne Cwikla
