Whole Lotta Shakin' At Eagle Hill
Whole Lotta Shakinâ At Eagle Hill
At approximately 6 am Thursday morning, Sandy Hook Fire Department responded to the Cornerstone at Eagle Hill for reports that the facility was shaking. Upon further investigation, it was found that a ruptured water mane in Eagle Hillâs fire suppression system was causing sprinkler pipes to shake, causing structural damage.
For a time, those searching for a cause of the shaking speculated that the cause may have been an earthquake, which proved not to be true.
The shaking affected all four buildings at the facility due to the fact that they are all connected to the same fire suppression system.
According to Sandy Hook Fire Chief Bill Halstead, the break in the water line most likely occurred between the pump house and the buildings of Eagle Hill, because water was running down away from the buildings and collecting in the pump house.
Some minor structural damage occurred as a result of the shaking; some cement in buildings were dislodged and paint was chipped.
Mr Halstead said that a structural engineer was due to survey the entire fire suppression system to confirm all damage resulting from the accident.
In the meantime, Sandy Hook Fire Department has made the Cornerstone maintain a fire watch, involving a regular search throughout the four buildings for any fire danger.
