Grasso Invitational Field Show Set Oct. 15
On Friday, October 15, the fifth annual Joseph P Grasso Field Show Invitational will march into Bruce Jenner Stadium at Newtown High School, show casing some of the premier bands in Western Connecticut.
The festival will feature performances by high school bands from Danbury, Bethel, Trumbull, Shelton, Norwalk and Johnathan Law. Besides playing the role of hosts, NHSâ own marching band will conclude the festival with its Latin-influenced field show.
The festival was named in honor Joseph Grasso, who founded the band program at NHS in 1960. Mr Grasso built the program throughout his 32 years at the high school, with strong band programs at the elementary and middle school level developing under his influence.
The NHS marching band is currently the second largest marching band in the state.
Band Parent Association member Anne Zimmermann calls the festival the biggest event of the year for NHSâ marching band.
The field show gets under way at 6:00 pm, and admission prices are $7 for adults, and $5 students.
