On Thursday, October 19, from 5:30 to 7 pm, Friends of Newtown Seniors (FONS) will continue its presentations of the AARP HomeFit Program.

The presentation will be based on a publication from AARP that offers smart ways to make a home comfortable, safe, and a great fit for not only senior citizens but all ages. It will focus on three areas of the home: hallways and stairs, kitchens, and bathrooms.

Copies of AARP HomeFit Guide will be provided to each participant. The 36-page fully-illustrated guide “is about homes, not houses,” according to AARP. It includes more than 100 tips and suggestions, broken down by room, doable regardless of housing type (single family dwelling, apartment house, etc) or ownership status (owner or renter).

Light refreshments will be provided and a safety gift will be offered to each participant.

The next presentation will be offered at Newtown Community Center, 8 Simpson Street.
