Joseph M. Caiola

US Army Veteran

Joseph M. Caiola, 81, of Trumbull, a retired printer for Boise Cascade, died October 2 at Maefair Health Care Center, Trumbull. Born in Bridgeport on March 4, 1925, he was a son of Michael and Fortuna Caliano Caiola.

Survivors include three sisters, Louise Gulas of Newtown, Lucy Yanosy of Bridgeport, and Mary Tompkins of Hamden; a brother, Sam Caiola of Bridgeport; four sons, Joseph Caiola, Jr, of Trumbull, John Caiola of Fairfield, Paul Caiola of Monroe, and Randall Caiola of Trumbull; a daughter, Joelle Classey of Westerly, R.I.; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. His wife, Dolores Caiola; two brothers, Anthony Caiola and John Caiola; and a sister, Sue Sherwood, predeceased him.

A US Army veteran of World War II, Mr Caiola was a member of the VFW Post 100159 of Trumbull and also volunteered at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in West Haven. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and took great pleasure in helping others at Maefair Health Care Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held in St Theresa Church, Trumbull, October 4. Interment with military honors followed in Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
