Gerard “Jay” Cahill of Newtown, 39, died September 30 at Danbury Hospital.

The son of Conor Cahill and Anne Talty Cahill, he was born on July 9, 1967 in the Bronx.

 Mr Cahill graduated from North Rockland High School, and served in the United States Navy from 1985 to 1989. He was owner of Jay Cahill Construction and was a former volunteer fireman.

Survivors include his adoring fiancée, Jennifer Licursi and daughter, Kayla Licursi; his loving son, Cody Michael Cahill and his mother, Patricia Cahill; his loving parents, Conor and Anne Cahill; brothers, Conor Cahill and wife, Angie, and Dennis Cahill and wife, Kelly; sisters, Maggie Burnham Stevens and husband, Michael, and Theresa Holeski and husband, Daniel; brother-in-law, Anthony Fayo; and 14 nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Jay. He was also affectionately known as “Sweetie Pie” to family. He was predeceased by his sister, Colleen Anne Fayo.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held October 5 at St Mary’s Church in Washingtonville, N.Y. Burial followed at St Mary’s Cemetery.

Arrangement were under the care of David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville.
