Programs On Healthy Aging
WATERBURY â Waterbury Hospital is offering a series of programs to help people live longer and healthier lives.

Everything You Need to Know About Getting a Good Nightâs Sleep,â which will be offered from 3 to 5pm on October 13 at Waterbury Hospital. Participants will learn about the sleep cycle, proper sleep preparation and ways to manage sleep problems, particularly insomnia. Dr Charles Atkins, director of behavioral health at Waterbury Hospital, will be the guest speaker.
A âStress managementâ program is scheduled for 3 to 5 pm October 20 at Waterbury Hospital. Although stress is a normal part of life, sometimes it can get the best of you, both physically and emotionally. Dr Atkins will present a seminar on the causes and symptoms of stress and discuss ways you can learn to minimize stressful situations.
If you assumed everyoneâs love life diminishes with age, think again. In the âSex Over 50â program a physician panel, including a psychiatrist, cardiologist, urologist and gynecologist, will discuss sex and intimacy for mature adults. The program will be from 6:30 to 8:30 pm November 9 at Waterbury Hospital.
âRetirement: Plan Now, Enjoy Later!â is slated for 6:30 to 8:30 pm November 16 at Southbury Town Hall. Dr Atkins, director of behavioral health at Waterbury Hospital, will discuss the psychological transition many people make as they retire from the work world.
