NEW FAIRFIELD â A.R.T.S., IncâNew Fairfield and New Fairfield High School Players will present My Sweet Juliette, an original melodrama, for one weekend this month.
The year is 1942⦠World War II rages on⦠Beauregard Thurston is a self-made millionaire who has never gotten over the loss of his one true love, Juliette.
They met in 1922, in a lounge where Juliette was performing as a singer. She had the voice of an angel, and she won Beauregardâs heart with her first note. After a short courtship, they married. The marriage was against the wishes of Beauregard Jr, the son of Beauregardâs first marriage.
The thought of having to one day share his fatherâs fortune was too much for Junior to bear. And so a story of love, deceit, money and power unfolds⦠a comedy of errors in pursuit of happiness.
My Sweet Juliette was written and is being directed by Ed Bassett, an accomplished playwright who has seen his work produced on stages in New Haven, Kansas City and Dallas, to name a few. The production stars New Fairfield High School students, and NFHS student Chuck Bradley is the assistant director. The production also features traditional melodrama style musical accompaniment by Joanne Spring.
My Sweet Juliette will be presented Thursday and Friday, October 21-22, at 8 pm, and Saturday, October 23, at 2 and 8 pm. Reserved seat tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens.
