Rita A. Brady
Rita A. Brady, 92, of Newtown, died peacefully in her home, September 28. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., July 29, 1920, and lived and worked there as a social worker.
She was a graduate of Brooklyn College and Fordham University, where she earned a masterâs degree. She worked at Catholic Charities for the Diocese of Brooklyn as a social worker, at first working with children, and later in her career with seniors and elderly.
Ms Brady was a lifetime visitor to Newtown, and became a permanent resident for 34 years, following her retirement.
She enjoyed gardening, and often dispensed tips on the challenge and successes of planting on her tree-filled property, which had practically no sun. She was a voracious reader of mystery novels and The New York Times; she enjoyed listening to classical music and musical theater. She enjoyed the beach and had many fond memories of her visits to Cape Cod and Nantucket. And each day, Ms Brady looked forward to having her afternoon tea.
Her family includes nephews Christopher Noon of Boston, Matthew Noon of East Hartford, Timothy Noon and Laura Jordan of Ashford, and a niece Pamela Noon of Boston.
Ms Bradyâs family would like to acknowledge the kindness and caring of the Griswold Agency, Bethel VNA, Masonicare of Newtown, and St Rose Parish, as well as many friends and neighbors.
AÂ Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated October 4. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Queens, N.Y.
Funeral arrangements were in care of the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
