Freshman Football Team Defeats Stratford 34-20
Newtown High Schoolâs freshman football team defeated Stratford 34-20 this past week to remain undefeated.
Quarterback Jared Pearson connected on a 53 yard pass to Devin Luzietti which put the Nighthawks on the Stratford 12 yard line and set up Pearsonâs scored run for a score.
On Stratfordâs next possession a bad snap led to a fumble recovery by Ryan Shaw for a touchdown. Shaw converted the extra point for a 14-6 NHS lead. In the second quarter Pearson had TD runs of 38 22, and he added a 70 yard TD run in the second half.
Pearson finished with four TDs and 157 rushing yards to lead the way.
Wide receiver Mark Urso caught a 40 yard pass in the second half. In the fourth quarter halfback John Delrossi had solid runs.
Defensive players of the game were Christian Morlock, Jeremy Salaris, and Andrew Svanda.
