Preparing For Flu Season

The Newtown Health District and the Visiting Nurses Association of Newtown have teamed up to provide flu shots to the Newtown community.

The first clinic was held on October 1. Three more clinics are scheduled:

*Saturday, October 13, 9 am to noon, at the Senior Center, 14 Riverside Road;

*Wednesday, October 17, 9 am to noon, at the town offices, 31 Peck’s Lane; and

*Thursday, November 8, 10 am to noon, at the Senior Center, 14 Riverside Road.

The clinics are walk-in and appointments are not being taken.

The clinic accepts the following: Medicare Part B, Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, ConnectiCare, Oxford, and United Health Care health insurances.

The fee for the shot, without insurance, is $15 for a Newtown resident or $30 for a non-Newtown resident. Newtown residents who cannot afford the fee will be subsidized by the Newtown VNA/Health District.

Be sure to bring your insurance card and/or ID to demonstrate residency. For questions or more information, contact the Health District at 270-4291.
