Head-On Collision Closes Mt Pleasant Road
A serious two-vehicle, head-on collision on Mt Pleasant Road, near Sedor Lane, sent three people to the hospital for medical treatment Wednesday night, and resulted in the closure of a section of Mt Pleasant Road for about three hours as police investigated.
Reported in fair condition Thursday morning in Danbury Hospital were Stephen Girolameti, 43, of Ridgefield, and Katherine Dubreuil, 44, of Hartford. Girolameti was driving a truck in which Dubreuil was a passenger.
Police said that Stephen Oberstadt, 17, of 29 Dayton Street, who was driving a sedan, was also transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment, but the hospital had no information on him.
Hawleyville and Newtown Hook & Ladder firefighters were called in for motorist extrication work at the accident scene on Mt Pleasant Road, near its eastern intersection with Sedor Lane.
Police said the 2003 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck was traveling westward on Mt Pleasant Road about 7:53 pm, as the 1997 Dodge Stratus sedan was traveling eastward there.
The two vehicles then collided head-on, police said.
The truck came to rest facing east in the westbound lane, and the sedan came to rest facing west in the eastbound lane, police said.
Police said that all three people were transported by ambulance volunteers to Danbury Hospital.
The accident remains under investigation.
