Developments Of The Death Penalty,

 Oct 11 At NUMC

Newtown United Methodist Church will host a special program, “Views and Perspectives on Capital Punishment: Why the death penalty will be abolished,” Thursday, October 11. The program will be at the church, 92 Church Hill Road.

Robert Nave, the executive director of the Connecticut Network to Abolish the Death Penalty, will present a broad (yet brief) overview of the current state of the movement to abolish the death penalty. Mr Nave also represents Amnesty International and will discuss the state, national, and international developments concerning the death penalty.

Mr Nave will present statistics and facts. The material is going to be powerful and at times graphic.

After the presentation,  Mr Nave will lead an open discussion of the pros and cons of the death penalty. For this evening to be a success opposing viewpoints are welcomed and encouraged. In light of recent events, this is an issue that will be much debated in the near future.

For additional information call NUMC at 426-9998.
