The subject of the October 7 Bible Lesson-Sermon is “Unreality.” Golden Text – Proverbs 12:19 (“The lip of truth shall be established forever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.”). Wednesdays from 7:30 to 8:30 pm there are readings from the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, followed by testimonies of healing through prayer. Worship services are on Sunday at 9 and 11 am, coffee hour follows: On October 7, Rev Linda Hansen and members of the Social Action Committee will lead the services on “The New Sanctuary Movement,” an interfaith coalition seeking “to protect undocumented immigrants from arrest, detention, and deportation while Congress works to create a path to citizenship for those who are here illegally.” Congregants are also invited to celebrate Coming Out Day (October 11) by dressing in rainbow colors. Religious education: preschool through fifth grade will meet at 9 and 11 am, sixth grade and up will go to the worship service, and Senior High Youth Group meets at 4 pm.

For the 10 am worship service on Sunday, October 7 (Worldwide Communion Sunday), the Rev Ann Beams will present a morning message entitled “A Harvest for The Whole World.” The Youth Bell Choir will perform during the worship service, and the Scripture lessons will be Lamentations 3:19–26 and James 3:13–18. The adult discussion of “Being a Christian in a changing world” will begin at 9 am. Sunday School for elementary grades will start after the Children’s Sermon, and middle and high school students will start their class after the sermon. Child care provided during worship service; fellowship and coffee follows the worship service. Adult midweek Lectionary Bible study meets Tuesday, 7:30 to 9 pm.
