Amy M. Pfingsten

Live Life ‘According

To Amy’

Amy M. Pfingsten died September 28 at Pope John Paul II Center for Health Care, Danbury. She was born in Swindon, Wiltshire, England, a daughter of Joseph G. and Harriett (Haines) Ricks. She was the wife of the late John A. Pfingsten.

Her twin children, Nancy L. Metzger of Newtown, and John D. Pfingsten of Wareham, Mass.; her son-in-law Jeffrey S. Metzger, MD; and two grandchildren, Dana and Ali Metzger, survive Mrs Pfingsten.

She immigrated to the United States at the age of 3 with her family, settling in Bridgeport where she attended local schools and graduated from Harding High School. She resided there until her marriage in 1945.

From 1945 to the present, Mrs Pfingsten resided in various towns: Westport, Easton, Gulfport, Miss., Dennis, Mass., and Simsbury. She worked at the retail store of The Hartford Insurance Co. and G. Fox Department Store until her retirement from retail. An engaging and loving woman, Mrs Pfingsten was a true soul mate and caregiver to her husband John, who battled polio for many years until his death in 1994.

She loved to cook and was known to live her life “according to Amy.” She was a member of the Simsbury Woman’s Club and the Simsbury Opera.

Funeral services took place on October 3 in Trinity Episcopal Church, Newtown, with the Rev Kathleen E. Adams-Shepherd, Rector, officiating. Burial took place in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Mass.

Memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut VNA Hospice, 680 Main Street, Watertown CT 06795.

Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Avenue, Danbury, was in charge of arrangements.
