A Wonderful Health Fair

To the Editor:

On September 29, we once again had a wonderful Health Fair at the middle school. It was our 14th annual! The weather was absolutely beautiful, and we had a record number of exhibitors and visitors. The day was exceptional, and it was due to the work of many, many hands. The utmost thanks go to Kevin Anzellotti and Don Roos and their crew at Newtown Middle School. Their dedication and hard work was extraordinary.

I want to thank all of the exhibitors and participants at the fair; they are truly a joy to work with. I also want to give a special thanks to our sponsors, Aqua Environmental Lab, Dr Bryson Filbert, Jr, Castle Hill Farm, the Chamber of Commerce, Dental Associates, Doctors Dudley, Condon, and Golisano, Excel Tutoring, Kevin Koschel, Marcus Dairy, The Newtown Bee, Newtown Lions Club, Newtown Parks & Recreation, Newtown Woman’s Club, and World of Bikes.

And a heartfelt thanks to the wonderful food service folks that faithfully support us — Bagel Delight, Big Y, Carminuccio’s, Firehouse Bar & Grill, Franco’s, Tambascio’s Italian Grill, My Place, Pizza Palace, South Main Pizza, Stop & Shop, and The Villa Restaurant. It is all of their support that makes such an event possible. And thanks to Lori Vanderweerdt; your support was a big help too.

Thank you to all the firefighters, emergency personnel, and police; this town is so fortunate to have such dedicated and talented people. It is so wonderful that in the trying times that we face, we have such terrific community events that bring us together, and let us have some good clean fun.

And to all the residents, the fair’s attendees, thank you for coming; it is for you that we work to share all of the free health screenings and health and safety info to keep Newtown the great town that it is.

I also want to add a very heartfelt thank you to our Board of Health and our Health District staff (Ed, Maureen, Mike, and Suzette) — all of their support, hard work and senses of humor are invaluable and make the difference everyday.
