Michael Soltes, Jr.

Michael J. Soltes, Jr, 75, of Danbury, died September 28 at his home at 6 Pembroke Terrace. He was the husband of Gwendolyn Brown Soltes.

He was the brother of Irene Radun of Newtown.

He was born in Danbury on March 23, 1924, a son of the late Michael and Anna (Chromie) Soltes.

Mr Soltes was an Army veteran of World War II and had received the Purple Heart Medal for severe injuries he sustained during a tank battle in the European Theater of Operations.

A retired State of Connecticut employee, he became a self-employed welder and worked for many years at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury.

Besides his wife and sister, he is survived by another sister, Elsie Palmieri of Danbury; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated October 5 at St Joseph Church, Danbury. Burial was at St Peter’s Cemetery, Danbury.

The Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division Street, Danbury, was in charge of arrangements.
