CACLD Plans Annual Program

STAMFORD – The Connecticut Association for Children with Learning Disabilities (CACLD) will hold its 29th Annual Conference on Saturday, October 16, from 8:30 am to 4:15 pm at the Stamford Marriott Hotel #2 Stamford Forum, Tresser Boulevard and Canal Street, Stamford.

The conference will explore “Learning Disabilities and Attentional Deficits Through the Lifespan.” It is open to parents, educators and other professionals with an interest in LD and/or ADD/ADHD in children and adults.

The conference will offer answers, directions, information, support and inspiration through workshops, a giant bookstore, exhibitors and keynote speaker, Stevan J. Kukic, PhD.

Dr Kukic is chairman of the Professional Advisory Board for the National Center for Learning Disabilities. He will be speaking on significant findings regarding how to teach children how to read; how to make schools more effective and the 40 assets that make children and youths immune from risk behavior.

Dr Kukic will be suggesting positive and assertive ways that parents and school personnel can advocate for systemic change in classrooms, school districts, state departments of education, and in teacher preparation programs.

Following the keynote address, those attending the conference will have the opportunity to choose from 21 different workshops. The workshops will cover a wide range of issues affecting children and adults in learning, working and living situations. A conference brochure is available by calling CACLD at 203/838-5010. The fees for the conference range from $50 to $95.

CACLD is a non-profit organization located at 25 Van Zant Street, East Norwalk, CT 06855. It offers education, information, referrals, advocacy, consultations, newsletters, workshops, books and tapes, seminars and conferences benefiting children and adults with LD/ADD/ADHD.
